    Fees are the same for any additional time spent on document review, research, written findings of fact/law and other outside time, if any, necessary to prepare or make an informed award or evaluation.

    TRAVEL TIME:
    For travel time charges for mediations held at locations other than at BAY’s offices in Atlanta, please contact BAY.

    ALL CHARGES WILL BE SHARED EQUALLY AMONG ALL PARTIES, UNLESS OTHERWISE AGREED IN WRITING. RATES MAY BE ADJUSTED FOR SPECIAL SITUATIONS. THE FEE IS TO BE AGREED UPON IN ADVANCE.

    OUR CONTRACT FOR SERVICES IS WITH THE ATTORNEY(S). WE EXTEND CREDIT, WITH NO ADVANCE DEPOSIT REQUIREMENT, BASED ON THE ATTORNEY’S CREDIT. THE ATTORNEY, IN TURN, COLLECTS FROM HIS/HER CLIENT. THEREFORE, WE EXPECT PAYMENT FROM THE ATTORNEY(S) REGARDLESS OF CLIENT ACTIVITY.

    *** A FINANCE CHARGE OF 1.50% PER MONTH (18% PER YEAR) WILL BE CHARGED ON BALANCES DUE OVER 45 DAYS.

Bio

Douglas Powell has practiced as a civil trial lawyer for over 43 years representing individuals who have been severely injured and families of individuals who have been injured or died as a result of automobile, trucking and medical negligence, worker related injuries, nursing home negligence, products liability, premises liability, intentional torts, pedestrian, dog bite, bicycle and motorcycle accidents and other negligent and reckless acts. Doug has litigated cases in State, Superior and Federal Courts in Georgia and the Southeast. He is a member of all state and federal courts in Georgia including the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. As a long time plaintiff personal injury attorney he can give valuable and unbiased insight to the parties on the basis of a risk reward analysis. He retired from the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General Corps where he handled over 400 courts-martial. He was a defense attorney for several years in the Atlanta law firm of Fortson & White.  He has tried to a jury over 50 trials. He has been selected by his peers as a “Georgia Super Lawyer” and holds the Martindale-Hubbell AV® Preeminent™ rating, the highest possible rating in legal ability and ethical standards given by one’s peers. He was a managing partner of the Law Firm of Hinton & Powell for over 30 years and is the founder of the Powell & Associates. He is a member of the Georgia and North Carolina Bar. He is also a certified chef, a sommelier, wine judge, world traveler and fine art photographer.
